Here’s a story of how one man’s bold career change led to the birth of a British retro pud sensation

Until his mid-fifties Mohamed Dadabhoy enjoyed a highly successful career in global banking operations, spanning 35 years and working for some of the most recognisable financial brands in the world, including Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust.
Following a 360° life review Dadabhoy made the frankly risky decision to step away from his solid financial career, move back to the UK to be nearer family, and finally follow his true passion - to become a chef.
Committed to his vision, Dadabhoy trained with the best of the best at Le Cordon Bleu London and Bangkok, a prestigious and renowned culinary school, world-renowned for its excellence in hospitality and gastronomy education.
Graduating from Le Cordon Bleu, Executive Pastry Chef Dadabhoy then honed his skills in the professional kitchen at Fallow, London.
Following his dream of reinvigorating classic British puddings with a fresh and sustainable twist, Dadabhoy, together with business partners Minesh and Hoosein, co-founded a new, independent venture aligned to their aspirations.
Using the finest ingredients to revitalise quintessential British desserts, with a sustainable outlook, a focus on depth of flavour and a nod to nostalgia.
A whirlwind of activity ensued, with the team pulling together to:
Scout suitable locations
Source quality sustainable ingredients
Fit out the new shop in Soho
Test the products with culinary colleagues, friends and businesses associates
Review the menu
Refine the recipes
Recruit and train staff
Develop the fresh new brand
Launch: Boldly swapping finance for flour - a new brand is born
What’s For Pud? opened its doors on Lexington Street, Soho, London in April 2025, to excitement from press, media outlets, locals and tourists alike - keen to sample the divine desserts made in-store.
The evolving menu has already introduced a special classic pudding of Bread & Butter with a twist with other tasty retro throwbacks including Chocolate Fudge Pudding, Spiced Apple Crumble, and Cardamom Rice Pudding.
WFP also offers hot beverages, soft drinks, a range of freshly baked cookies, and soft Mr Whippy inspired iced desserts - perfect for a summer’s on-the-go treat.
It’s not been easy. The transition from bean counter to bean baker has involved dedication to strict training, constant skill refinement and long hours perfecting recipes and sourcing sustainable ingredients.
Chef Dadabhoy admits that,
“Changing careers was always about following my true passion. I’m committed to creating and elevating classic British puddings to delight out customers, spark nostalgia and create fun and memorable experiences for all.
“I’m so grateful to be able to completely change direction at this time of my life. I can’t wait to extend our range of dishes and rekindle the appetite for key Great British Puds. We’ve already had lots of suggestions for our next pud upgrade - you’ll have to watch this space to see what will be whipped up next.”
What’s For Pud? (WFP) is known for their abundant portions with generously flowing luxurious custard, and the vision behind the brand is clear to all, with Dadabhoy’s passion shining through:
“One of the nicest people you’ll ever meet - warm, welcoming, and genuinely cares about his customers. He takes pride in what he does, and it really shows...”
